Since 1961, the Head & Shoulders promise is to remove 100% of your dandruff flakes. This guiding principle inspires our mission for the planet: to leave nothing behind.

As the world’s No. 1 shampoo brand, we believe it’s our responsibility to act to enable sustainable lifestyles for our consumers.

We are working with experts and pioneers to imagine and realise new solutions to achieve our mission and help solve critical issues facing our planet.

We are looking at the whole of our value chain to improve our manufacturing methods, packaging materials, waste management and innovate to leave no plastic bound for landfills or oceans.

Our mission will not be complete until we leave nothing behind but a healthy scalp and healthy planet.

committed to using new techniques to improve our packaging.

Our HDPE bottle are already recyclable, and we are working hard to make sure all our

What is recycling and upcycling

While the exact guidelines for recycling
are different in every neighbourhood, there’s still a lot you can do to make sure you’re recycling as much of your trash as possible.

Reducing waste and plastic use

Did you know that you alone could save
up to 15,000 liters of water per year? It all starts from the way you shower!

Ending beach plastic pollution

All of our bottles in Europe already include 25% of post-consumer recycled plastic, but we won’t stop there. By 2030, were working to include 50% of post-recycled-plastic in our bottles to help reduce the use of virgin plastic in our packaging.

World’s first recyclable shampoo bottle

We created the world’s first recyclable shampoo bottle made from beach plastic – and that’s just the beginning.

Head & Shoulders created the world’s first recyclable shampoo bottle made from beach plastic. In doing so, we cleaned up over 200 beaches around Europe of plastic waste and worked with over 1000 volunteers and 100 NGO’s.

Caring for the environment is more than the conscious effort to improve the start to end life journey of our packaging – it’s considering everything around it.

That’s why we send zero waste to landfill in our manufacturing process and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 20%.

Find how we’re reducing the impact of our manufacturing process and see the progress we’ve made so far. Explore what we're doing to reduce waste and water at Head & Shoulders.

We’re working hard to address those aspects of our manufacturing process that affect the environment including:

  • energy consumption – everything from turning on the lights to running machinery uses energy

  • water use – used in cooling and in stages of manufacturing as well as being a key ingredient in the shampoo

  • CO2 emissions – everything from transporting raw materials to the making of the product can create emissions

  • manufacturing waste – all manufacturing processes produce waste. We want to reduce that and make sure we find a positive use for waste through recycling
